Galveston rebuilding Mission : 2009 and beyond

Vision:
Bringing visibility to how God is at work in the aftermath of this storm and increasing momentum of successful missions.

REBUILDING THE HOMES, LIVES AND HOPE OF GALVESTON ISLAND

Working with Campus Crusade for Christ, various churches, non-profit and faith based organizations, as well as individuals wanting to help, we look to bridge the gap between those families in need with the funding and volunteers, to get these families back into their homes and on with their life.

As of November 20, 2008, The city of Galveston had assigned Warrior4Christ Ministries as one of 7 project managers in the rebuilding efforts. We are also active members of the Galveston County Rebuilding Commission,  a collaboration of Faith-based, disaster relief organizations.

The need is huge here. Contrary to what so many believe, this is not a vacation rental or weekend home resort community. These people were struggling before the hurricane and now many are without a home, without a job, without a car and without hope.

Prior to Ike, over 13% of the population was below the poverty line, 13.10% of the population are single moms and 10.20% of the population are over the age of 65 and living alone.

On Galveston Island, 4,800 of those homes that were flooded out are families who fall below the poverty line and over 2,500 of those are over the age of 65.

Watch this short video to get a glimpse of how God has been using this ministry to help Galveston regain their hope.

Additional relief efforts: Our volunteers have developed a very personal relationship with many of the families here on the island. We find out what they are in need of and the Lord provides, and you can see the Lord working in their hearts when we show up with the exact things they are in need of, or to arrive with presents and a birthday cake to celebrate their kids birthday.

Thanks to Paul Carrozza, owner of RunTex in Austin, and his efforts with the toy drive. Along with individual donations, we were able to provide a Christmas to many families who were not planning on having a Christmas. We delivered, set-up and decorated 36 Christmas trees and delivered over 560 toys. This is what it’s about….. it’s a personal and intimate expression of God’s love.

Not only are volunteers able to help those who are in need, but they see first hand, how one person can make a difference. Not only do they see people’s lives changed forever by having met in a personal way the God who provided for them, but crew members also experience personal miracles in their own lives and develop life long relationships. No one can be part of this great movement without being blessed themselves.

WE NEED YOUR HELP. WE NEED YOUR DONATIONS. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT. WE NEED YOUR PRAYERS.
